Box Condition Grading
Every figure at Achoon-ya is pre-owned and sourced in Japan. The figure itself is graded on the Condition line of each listing — and because the original box matters to collectors, the box gets its own grade, shown on the Box line.
Boxes are graded from A (best) to C (worst), with + and − for finer detail — the same letter-grade style used by Japanese hobby shops. The grade describes the outer box only, never the figure inside.
The grades
A — Excellent
- A+ — Like new. The box looks as it left the factory; no flaws worth mentioning.
- A — Very light shelf wear you have to search for (faint gloss rubs); no dents, creases or tears.
- A− — Light wear visible on close inspection: a small scuff or a faint corner rub. Still displays beautifully.
B — Visible wear
- B+ — Clearly stored or displayed: light creases, gentle edge/corner wear you notice at arm's length.
- B — Obvious wear: creases, small dents or scratches. The box still protects and displays fine.
- B− — Multiple noticeable flaws, e.g. a crushed corner plus creasing or scuffed print.
C — Damaged
- C+ — Significant damage: a tear, hole, heavy crushing or sun fading on one side.
- C — Major damage across the box; think of it as protective packaging rather than a display piece.
- C− — Severe: torn, partially crushed or incomplete. Graded honestly so there are no surprises.
No box — the figure comes without its original box (noted on the listing).
Good to know
- The box grade never affects the figure's own condition grade — a C− box can hold a like-new figure (and often does; that's where the bargains are).
- Damage beyond normal wear is described in the listing notes and shown in the photos.
- Whatever the box grade, every order is packed carefully with protective material for international shipping.
